I wish to earn a master's degree in Speech Language Pathology to enhance my work as a physician who is very much dedicated to helping patients with oral issues that often result in communication difficulties. I seek to bring a holistic response to bear that goes far beyond treatment of the physical conditions that present themselves and to seek the fullest restoration and healing possible. I am also a professor of medicine, and this has helped me to grow professionally and to think in increasingly creative ways about oral health issues and to become a leader in my field at King Saud University and throughout Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
After earning my degree, I will go back to my country, Saudi Arabia, and I will put what I have learned to excellent use enhancing and improving the quality of the treatment that we are able to offer to our people. I look forward to many decades of service to both my patients and students in the field of communication, particularly everything having to do with voice and swallowing disorders. My medical experience began in the emergency room while still a medical student and I focused early on a special interest in oral health. This led me to become the chief organizer for World Swallowing Day and World Voice Day activities in Saudi Arabia in 2013, 2014.
From 2008 through 2013 I served as an otorhinolaryngology resident physician and teaching assistant from 2008 to 2013 at XXXX University Hospital. Since that time, I have been serving as a resident physician Teaching Assistant, and Research Chair of our Department of Voice, Communication, and Swallowing Disorders at XXXX University Hospital.
I have always been told that I am a good listener and I this is because I believe firmly that one learns more from listening than talking, thus, I seek to practice listening as an art form and to show my appreciation for what other have to share with me and in this way become a better physician every day. that a good listener needs others to speak to really enjoy what he is good on. Becoming a highly trained professional in the area of Speech Language Pathology could not be more complimentary to what I have accomplished so far, as a new career direction in which to specialize because of many if not most of the greatest challenges in otorhinolaryngology represent at least some threat to oral communication, and the value of our ability to communicate, of course, cannot be overestimated.
In addition to learning English as a second language, the experience of learning French also heightened my appreciation for the importance of overcoming language and communication challenges. I moved to France and studied the language through everyday use and learned many things of immense value. I hope to be accepted to a distinguished program in SLP such as yours, one with resources for learning that far surpass the education resources that are available in my own country, Saudi Arabia. It is my hope that earning the master's degree from your world-class program will enable me to put the degree to work right away and gain further valuable experience that will lead me towards a clinical fellowship in voice and swallowing. It would be a great honor for me to be accepted as one of your graduate students in your speech-language pathology master's program and to help me reach my goals and pursue my dreams.
