I thrived in the demanding atmosphere of military school which I attended from the age of eleven. The school instilled an uncompromising work ethic in me that has served me well and continues to do so. I excelled in all subjects, but I particularly loved Chemistry and I wanted to combine this with a way to help people. Pharmacy seemed to me the obvious way to do so.
I achieved a GPA of 3.55 in my bachelor studies despite being highly active in cultural and volunteer activities and assisting professors with their research.
Ever since I became aware of stem cell research and the key role of pharmacists in this work - which seems likely to yield enormous benefits to humankind, I have read broadly in this area.
Having gained my degree, I worked in retail pharmacy in India. Apart from routine duties, I loved helping patients to identify remedies that were both effective and within their budget. I come from a culture in which the elderly are treated with respect and kindness, and I realize that pharmacists need to pay special attention to caring for the elderly. I hope to be part of the solution to issues that concern the elderly.
Although I enjoyed my retail experience, I was also considering a future in research and decided to pursue a master's degree in biotechnology, coming to the US to do so. I attended New York University and made significant contributions to several interesting research projects. My GPA was a bit disappointing, however my scores in required subjects were good and I would ask you to take this fact into account.
I look forward to joining a challenging program in which I can apply my substantial research experience, especially in cardiovascular disease. It is my hope to acquire the skills and knowledge to enable me to become an excellent clinical pharmacist who is fully prepared for the coming changes in the medical environment.
