My homeland of Thailand is a developing, emerging nation, with little emphasis or interest in Public Administration. As I began contemplating a career, I wondered what I could do to make positive and progressive change happen in my community. Working as a part-time professor at XXXX University in Thailand, teaching political science, government management and policymaking, I felt a powerful desire to develop my knowledge further so that I could maximize my contribution to society. This is why I began to focus my studies on Public Administration.
I immigrated to America to not only immerse myself in a different culture and meet people with different ideas, but also have a chance to study in one of the world’s finest educational institutions. In America, opportunities for the exposure that I needed were everywhere, especially in the capital, Washington, D.C., where 80% of federal governmental agencies are headquartered. This access is unprecedented for someone like me, and I was eager to get started. I compare other countries’ public administration to Thailand, something that will help me develop Thai public administration through increased understanding of global models and worldviews.
I hope to attain the best education possible in Public Administration education and then return to Thailand where I can contribute to the Thai educational system in Public Administration, making it more accessible and effective. There is a distinct need in Thailand for people to become educated, with new skills to fill new jobs that are coming. I want to teach Public Administration in Thailand to help ensure a well-educated labor supply and educational advancement in this vital area of studies.
If I am to bring my plans, goals, and dreams to reality, I need to increase my depth of understanding of Public Administration, particularly systematic and advance knowledge of how to develop Public Administration programs. Additionally, I want to further refine my existing leadership skills as I want to lead in the educational field as well as being the finest administrator I can be. By studying in a world-class graduate program such as Public Administration Program at the XXXX School at the University of XXXX, I will be able to develop my theoretical understanding, and in-depth empirical approaches to make creative and sustainable administrative decisions, develop a core set of expertise in administrative strategies, and further build upon my research skills.
I bring with me to your accomplished student body and exceptional program a solid foundation in Political Science. I have already completed an MA degree in Political Science here in America. This graduate program enabled me to develop excellent time management skills in a deadline-oriented environment, skills that will aid me invaluably as my career advances.
I bring with me extensive experience in international education. Not only have I been educated on two diverse continents, but I also have one-year of experience studying in New Zealand where I also developed volunteer experience in healthcare management and learned a great deal about diverse public administration systems.
I look forward with great eagerness to giving my all to your MPA program at UXX. I do not do this just for me, but for my homeland, so that I can help to streamline public administration systems in Thailand enabling my people to prosper and to build sustainable organizations for the future.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
